Exploration Manager
Mr.
Underwood graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a
degree in Engineering Physics in 1975 and with a minor in
Geophysics. He joined Mobil Oil Corporation and worked as a
geophysicist on Texas outer continental shelf projects where
he acquired and processed over 3,000 miles of seismic data
and developed prospects. In 1978, he joined Union Texas
Petroleum Company (UTPC) and interpreted geophysical data
from Southeast Asia and Europe. The following year he
became UTPC’s Resident Geophysicist in Pakistan and was
involved in multiple oil and gas discoveries. In 1983, he
was promoted to Group Leader, Far East-Australia. In 1985,
Mr. Underwood became Exploration Manager of UTPC’s Madrid
office and supervised both expatriates and national
technical personnel. He designed, contracted, and supervised
the first helicopter-supported seismic program in Spain
along the southern flank of the Pyrenees. He was
transferred to UTPC’s Houston office in 1989 and became
Exploration Manager for the offshore Gulf Coast. In 1991,
he joined Permian Exploration Corporation in Roswell, New
Mexico, as Manager of Geophysical Operations. He designed
seismic surveys and then contracted, operated, and exercised
quality control over the data.
Mr.
Underwood joined YCI as Chief Geophysicist in 1993. He was
responsible for coordinating all of YCI’s geophysical
operations in the UK and in Spain. He became Exploration
Manager for HEYCO International, Inc. in 1999. Mr.
Underwood is responsible for the quality of the overall
exploration programs, prospect generation, and the design,
acquisition, processing, and interpretationof geophysical
data. His responsibilities also include evaluation of
third-party prospects, portfolio risk management, and
representing HEYCO International, Inc. on various Technical
Committees in non-operated international ventures.
Mr.
Underwood is a member of the Society of Exploration
Geophysics, an active member of the American Association of
Petroleum Geologists, past President of the Southwest
Section of the AAPG, a member of the Petroleum Exploration
Society of Great Britain, and a Certified Petroleum
Geophysicist. |
